Lara UHF & Microwave Experimenters' Group (L.U.M.E.G.) |
The Lara UHF & Microwave Experimenters' group is a very informal gathering of amateur operators who have a common interest in building and experimenting with radio "stuff" on the VHF - SHF * Above amateur radio bands and whom also happen to reside in Lara. At present it's members are: VK3NX Charlie, VK3PY Chas and VK3QM David. The "members" of L.U.M.E.G. also belong to the G.A.R.C. (Geelong Amateur Radio Club) On most evenings there is a "rag chew" on 144.300 MHz USB where all things radio are discussed with a huge emphasis on "home-brewing" (not the alcohol type!)......................... Anyone interested in radio communication on the "higher bands "is welcome to join us. To help point your beam, Lara is located in QF21 some 60km SW of Melbourne. |
Portable Operations. Whilst the members enjoy operating from home, a favourite past-time is portable operation especially for the higher bands. This seems to culminate in the Spring and Summer VHF-UHF field day contests as well as the John Moyle field day contest. Usually the group operates under the call sign VK3UHF. |
